IMBA Canada's Trail Care Crew is coming to Wolfville to do a trails workshop - August 6, 2010. They will also be at Gorefest on August 7.

Chad and Deanne Lazaruk of the International Mountain Bicycling Association ( IMBA) will be in Wolfville for a Trailbuilding School with the Annapolis Valley Mountain Bike Association. The Crew teaches “sustainable” trail building, which means building trails that last a long time and require minimal maintenance. This helps reduce trail damage, protects the environment, and enhances visitor enjoyment. We need to ensure that we get a good turnout to this event so do what you have to to make it happen. This is the Trail Care Crew's first time in the valley and we don't want it to be the last.

Please pre-register for the Trailbuilding School online by clicking here.  For more information, directions, etc. please contact Glenn McMullen at info@avmba.com

    Welcome to the
    Annapolis Valley Mountain Bike Association (AVMBA). We are a group of dedicated volunteers working to build and maintain sustainable trails in the Annapolis Valley and act as a positive voice for Mountain Biking.

    Some of the things we're working on in 2010:
    * launch new trail system
    * IMBA Canada Trail Workshop
    *Launch "Trips for Kids" - Annapolis Valley
    * continued trail maintenance

    IMBA Rules of the Trail

    1. Leave No Trace.
    practice low-impact cycling. Wet trails are more vulnerable to damage. Stay on existing trails. Be sure to pack out at least as much as you pack in.

    2. Always Yield Trail.
    Let your fellow trail users know you're coming. A friendly greeting or bell is considerate and works well; don't startle others. Show your respect when passing by slowing to a walking pace or stopping. Anticipate other trail users around corners/blind spots.

    3. Never Scare Animals.
    Animals are startled by an unannounced approach, a sudden movement, or a loud noise. When passing horses use special care and follow directions from the horseback riders.
